A Grade Point Average of GPA is basically that one particular number which lets you know what average you have scored from the accumulated final grades of the courses that you have studied during a given period of time. That period of time can be during your high school or your college.

In any case, calculating your GPA lets you determine where you stand as far as your academic progress is concerned. Once you know your GPA, you can check if you are eligible for scholarships in the future and how much you need to work on your grades in case your GPA is below average.

Since we at EazyResearch understand how many students are worried about their academics and many of them are often browsing ‘how to calculate GPA’ at times, we have also added the option for an online GPA Calculator for College/High School. This is so that we can facilitate students in all domains of academics from providing assignment writing service to calculation of GPA as well.

Each of the steps has been explained in detail. Go ahead!

Step 1: Select your grade format

High School GPA Calculator - Step 1 - Select Grade Format

First select the format of your grade which can be either percentage grade or letter grade. You need to have the grade before you get your final report card, which means you will have to confirm your grade with your teacher. Ask your teacher for your grade in that case.

In case your teacher does not confirm your grade, you can simply estimate your grades by yourself. Letter grades range from A+ to an F on the 4.0 scale while Percentage grades range from 100% to 60%, with below 59% being considered as an F i.e. Fail.

Step 2: Enter your current GPA (optional)

High School GPA Calculator - Step-2 - Add Previous GPA

Enter your current GPA and the total credits that you have taken. The GPA Calculator will start calculating your semester GPA as soon as you enter your current GPA and the total credits by factoring in your current GPA.

This is an optional step.

High School GPA Calculator - Step 3 - Enter Semester Name

  • Course Name
  • Grade (Percentage or Letter Grade)

For Regular Classes, grades are according to the Standard Scale i.e. A=4, B=3, C=2.

For Honors Classes, grades are increased by a half point from the Standard Scale.

For College Classes or Advanced Placements, grades are increased by one whole point.

Once your enter the weight of your class, the GPA will be adjusted and updated automatically and will then be displayed as both weighted and Unweighted GPA under “Your GPA” section.

FAQs GPA Calculator

GPA refers to the Grade Point Average which can easily be calculated by simply the total amount of your grade points you have earned, by the total amount of credit hours you have attempted. GPA ranges from 0.0 to 4.0 on the average scale so you should be getting your answer within the range only.
The range of Grade Point Average or GPA ranges from 0.0 to 4.0. Getting a 3.5 on the GPA scale means that you have received an excellent grade as 3.5 is equivalent an “A” grade. However, this 3.5 grade only counts your individual grades, the number of hours you have spent in the classroom or basically the course credits. They do not denote the difficulty of your course or how you performed in your extracurricular activities.
The 4.0 scale for Grade Point Average or GPA is the most common scale used in universities for calculating GPA. This scale does not include your extracurricular activities or the difficulty of the courses you took. If you have your grades, you can simply convert them for example, a B+ or percentage between 87-89 means a GPA of 3.3 and so on.
Grade Point Average or GPA is calculated on two scales: the 0.0-4.0 scale and the 0.0-5.0 scale. The 5.0 GPA scale basically factors in everything from the difficulty of the courses you took, plus your performance in extracurricular activities. 5.0 is the highest number you can get on the 0.0-5.0 scale hence meaning that 5.0 is an excellent grade for getting admission into college.
The range for the common Grade Point Average or GPA scale ranges from 0.0-4.0. College is considered as rather difficult by students when they make the switch from high school because the coursework and homework is much more strenuous. Receiving a 3.5 GPA in college means you have overall performed well in your academics and will be considered as a suitable applicant for further universities.
For applying in a Master’s program, you will need a minimum of 3.0 GPA on the 0.0-4.0 GPA scale. The average scale of the Grade Point Average or GPA ranges from 0.0-4.0 so getting a 3.5 means that your performance academic wise was brilliant. With a 3.5 GPA, you can easily apply for a Master’s degree, and even prove to be a suitable candidate for a scholarship.
According to the 0.0-4.0 Grade Point Average or GPA scale, a B+ means a GPA of 3.5 or 87-89%. This is usually considered as a good number and makes you eligible to apply to the top universities easily.
4.0 is the highest number you can receive on the 0.0-4.0 scale therefore making the grade 4.0 as the best grade on the scale. You can also hope to get scholarship on a 4.0 GPA without any issues.
The scale for the Grade Point Average or GPA ranges from 0.0-4.0. Since 3.8 is close to 4.0 which is the highest number on the scale, a GPA of 3.8 means that your college application will look excellent and will also make you eligible for a scholarship.
On the 0.0-4.0 scale, a 2.7 GPA means that you have received from B- to B which in percentage range means 82% to 83%. This number is considered as regular or normal, but might not get you a scholarship in a top-notch university as you seek.
A 1.0 GPA on the 0.0-4.0 scale means that your grade is ranging from a D- to a D. The percentage may range from 60-67%. Such a GPA is usually not considered as a ‘good’ GPA and indicates that the student needs to work hard to improve their academic performance.
